    Patrick Shumway, Founder of SharingSamples.com

I created SharingSamples first and foremost as a way to give back to my community.  As a college student/athlete with a part-time job, I don’t have a lot of money to give to charity.  But I don’t think the lack of money should prevent us from giving back.  I think people in general tend to have more time than money.

My mom and I have this “thing” we do where we bounce ideas, concepts and inventions off of one another.  We critique each others thoughts and challenge each other to take our ideas to the next level.  This is how SharingSamples was born.  After seeing a commercial about going to a website for a free sample, we started discussing what would happen if I got my entire school involved and gave all the samples to our local food bank.  As always, mom challenged me to take the extra step and see where this idea would take me and that’s exactly what I did.

I currently attend St. Charles Community College and I am a recent addition to their baseball program, GO COUGARS.  Baseball is a huge passion of mine.  I have played baseball (catcher) since I was four years old.  It was always a dream of mine to be a college baseball player.  I live with my mom, older sister, my dog Ripley, two cats Tobie and Zou, and my two turtles Dolce and Gabbana in Valley Park, MO.  My other two dogs; Max & Foxie live in Atlanta, GA with my dad and stepmom.
